The Arcani Ledger, Vol. III

Once again, it has been another productive week for the film, but it has not been without snags.  Today's scheduled barebecue scene was rained out, but it was for the best, overall.  The actors have been given a free day to relax.  However, that's not the case with Jeremy and I.  Today, Jeremy is assembling rough edits of scenes we already shot.  The dailies all look gorgeous, and we couldn't be happier with what we see.

We're currently spending our time prepping for April, which Jeremy and I have already written a schedule for.  This week, we plan on securing some more locations.  Thus far, the production has been smooth and busy.  To give some evidence of this, here are some on-location pictures, courtesy of Ian Davis, of Thursday's March 26th shoot.  It was a big day for me, as all the scenes involved my character.  Not to give too much away, but there was lots of filth.

The blinds looked great.

The bathroom setup was pretty claustrophobic.

Table filth detail. Note that we are not sponsored by Yuengling.

I'm waiting. . . in character.

It looks dirtier than you think.

Some room wall detail.

Phil was there to help, since he had no scenes.

Art direction by Jeremy.

More room detail.

It looked as good on camera.

Set decoration is a must.

The mirror was filthy after Jeremy fixed it.

Table detail.

The knife wasn't really in the table.

I'm not meditating.

The Arcani Ledger, Vol. II, Part Three

ere are the promised color photos from Ian Davis, taken on Saturday, March 21st.

Stay glued to this blog for even more updates in the future!

Kyle Smithy, at your service.

Phil won't get out of this one alive. . .

Phil is not that short in real life--or is he?

Liam Hislop is the Lieutenant, and he did a fine job.

We wanted Kyle to dress up and then stay behind the camera on purpose.

The Lieutenant's office.

Phil is one intense actor.

Liam is showing us how it's done.

Is that Old Gregg?

Good composition.

Derek Marunowski is playing Phil's real-life and on-screen brother.

Our camera has brought us a lot.

Jeremy is framing Liam.

Chad Hitchcock presents. . .

Troy owns a bulletproof vest.

Laugh it up, dude.

Does he ever get away from that thing?

First slate. Dig the homemade goods.

This was the first setup of the film.

You'll have to ask Liam. I have no idea.

Blink, and you'll miss him!

Troy patiently waited outside. . . a lot. Thanks, dude.

The Arcani Ledger, Vol. II, Part Two

Just when you thought it was over, we return. I mentioned that a lot of good things happened last week, and I was not fibbing. We did indeed start production on Damage Control.

I'll wait until the applause dies down. Thank you.

Continuing on, our reliable documentarian/shutterbug Ian Davis popped by Saturday, March 21st to take some pictures of our first big day as independent filmmakers. Some of you might be wondering if the film is to look as good as the photos. Here's the short answer: yes. The film is going to be shot in color, and all the textures will really show. I don't need to say that it was hard work, but I will go on record and say that fun was had all around. Ian captured some of these moments from a very important day in the lives of both crew and cast. Since Ian took so many high-quality photos, I will divide them by type. The first batch of posted photos are black & white only. The color set is to follow in yet another volume of The Arcani Ledger. Enjoy.

Phillip Marunowski plays the lead.

Jeremy Buckhalt is the director.

Phil takes direction from the boss.

On location at Full Sail University.

He got some good coverage.

Phil's staring down the beast.

Kyle's in his getup. I'm on sound.

A real actor watches his caloric intake.

Boom.

I assure you we're all having fun.

You can see the plant vase.

Troy Stull is a supporting character.

Phil likes plants.

Phil noir.

Yes, we're shooting for widescreen.

This is the only way to know if a take is good: he smiles.

It's an intense scene.

He'd better be reading the script.

Three planes of talent.

Getting some input.

The ceiling is nice and high.

"Sir? You wanted to see me?"

Phil is phun.
